Learn how to calculate the cost of your electricity
This is so cool if you didn't know how to figure out what everything in your house costs you to run now you can figure it out just by doing some simple math. Here's how to do it. Take the amount of watts each appliance is rated at divide the wattage by 1000 take that number multiply it by the number of hours you use it for then you will have your KWH or kilowatt hours then take that by your electric rate that your charged and walah there is how much your appliances cost. Here is the actual formula.(100 watt light bulb,180 watttoaster oven,500 watt tv, 100+180+500=780 watts/1000= .78x 8 hours=6.24 kwh x .07=.43 cents to run that stuff for that amount of time. Pretty cool huh? This is a good calculation to know because it'll help you and your family understand how much money they're spending watching tv or being on the computer and so on.If they know and understand this it could save you money. To save more money ck out our other electricity saving tips at www.makeyourownelectricity.biz
Total wattage/1000=watts
Watts × hours of use= kWh (kiloWatt-hour) of energy.
kWh × $0.07f/kWh = cost electricity

Using mirrors to enhance your solar panels even on cloudy days
Did you know that there’s a way to increase your solar power during cloudy days? That's right all you have to do is put up mirrors on each side of your panel and it will magnify what little sunlight there is helping you get more voltage on cloudy days..
You will want to use soft panels, they will flex and are very light and have a bypass diode in between panels this helps save your charge power because it makes them shade tolerant. So it is a good idea to get these types of panels.
Even though having mirrors to enhance your solar panels is a good idea there are precautions you should take. It is possible to start a fire due to the heat given off by the mirror. This could happen if the sun reflects onto a surface that could ignite, i.e. wood, leaves, or paper make sure you know if the mirror is reflecting sunlight somewhere it shouldn’t be. , Also there is a chance you could reflect the sun into someones eyes while they’re driving or a plane flying overhead. Just remember that the mirrors will reflect a long distance so be careful where they’re aimed at.. To find mirrors to use with your panels go to solar panel enhancing

4 ways to utilize solar power for your home
While the world is changing so must we and saving money while saving the earth is an excellent change.
here are 4 different ways to utilize solar power for your home and how much each one of them costs.
1. Solar roof panels
average cost to install $20,000
time to get money back on investment 20yrs
cost per watt/$10-12
project completion time /several weeks
average home uses 750-900 kwh/month
you willl need 400-800 sq ft of panels to offset energy usage in your home
with green energy incentives and rebates you will get your money back in a few years
2. Hot water system
Installation cost: $1,000-1,500
Project completion time: Varies
ROI timeframe: 1.5-2 years
When estimating annual operating costs you will need to know the SEF(solar energy factor) the type of auxiliary fuel typeyou will use (gas or electric)and your local utility rates. This system typically cost around $1200.00.average operating costs of 176.00 yr yielding a savings of 56.00/yr and a payback period of 1-2 yrs
Solar pool heating
Installation cost: $3,000-4,000
Project completion time: 1-3 weeks
ROI timeframe: 1.5-7 years
Solar pool heaters will last longer than both gas and heat pump heaters, although your installation cost and payback time depend on numerous factors. You will have to evaluate the site’s “solar resources” (how much sun), determine the right system size and efficiency, consider various costs and investigate all the local codes and regulations governing the installation. However, once properly installed the system should run smoothly for 20 years. In many climates, solar pool heating is the best and most cost-efficient use of solar energy.
4. Solar home space heating
There are so many ways, large and small, to “tap into” the sun’s energy for home and space heating (without roof panels). You can do everything from installing heat-collecting windows and passive structures, to converting south-facing walls to what is called a “Trombe wall.” The wall stores heat and then releases it gradually later in the day.
Conclusion
A major roof installation lives up to its name in various ways. It is a source of major power, sometimes all you will need, while it is also a major expense that often must be planned. However, there is plenty that you can do while you are saving toward that PV roof system. You can tighten up your home to be more energy-efficient, switch to “smart” appliances, institute new energy-saving habits and start taking steps toward “total solar power” with a few space-heating projects, a pool heater or a solar water heater.
There is always more you can do, and technology keeps advancing so you are able to do it better and cheaper. Set your goals realistically, update all your cost assumptions by checking today’s prices and stick to your plan. By making your own electricity you can reduce your lifetime energy costs and help the earth stay green at the same time.

How Solar power can help you
Studies have shown that for every $1 a home owner spends to save on their electric bill the value of the home increases$10 to $25. A Solar energy system can add value to your home especially in the first 15 years of their service. Panels are expected to last 30 years at least. Not only can you add value to your home but you can make your house stand out in terms of being the few green energy homes in your area this could be a huge selling point. I know it gets my attention.
Solar panels can work for you no matter where you live. All you need is sunlight even on cloudy days the panels will absorb enough light to make electricity. People use trackers to move the panels with the sun as it crosses the sky to optimize the suns potential all day long. There are also mirrors to focus the suns rays on the panels more intensely.
Solar panel construction has advanced significantly in the last 20 years and can withstand almost any weather condition. Hail. rain ,snow, extreme cold, extreme heat are not a problem anymore for solar panels. High tempered glass is used in the construction of the panels. Reinforced construction of the frames has greatly increased the strength of the panels increasing their value. Technology has advanced so much that panel cost hasbeen reduced significantly. Solar power has finally come down in prices after when in past years the
cost of solar power was so high you couldn't afford to install one.But like
everthing else or almo st everything the cost eventually has dropped so
it's affordable again. So here we go the top 6 reasons solar power is
affordable again.
1. Solar power going down dirty fuel going up:Dirty fuel meaning carbon bas
ed fuel. As fuel prices went up Solar power came down with more demand and
interest in the product.
2In 2009 A new tax credit: for Solar powered energy systems will be in
place. Instead of it being like a deduction It'll come straight off your
tax bill 30% of the cost of the system is what you'll get credited for.
3.State and local rebates: These don't apply in every state but in Austin
Texas theres a rebate of $4.50/watt when it only costs $6-$10.00/watt to
setup a system so you're getting a 45-75% return of you installation costs.
4.Film based solar panels:A company based in San Jose California, has
devoloped a film based solar panel that is much more cost efficient in
converting Sun to electricity than the current solar panels on the market.
5.Trackers and Mirrors:Electric motors keep panels moving with the sun so
to utilize the sun allday long. Mirrors are used to concentrate the suns
energy onto the panels.
6.People have figured out a way to make Solar panels right at home.Buying a guide on the Internet has proven to be a very cost effective way to make
your own electricity. Here's one that I found to be extremely affordable
